Turning photos into a PDF people can use

JPG is the format phones and cameras use for photos. It is great for pictures but awkward for paperwork: five receipts as five separate photos are hard to keep in order and easy to lose.

Putting them into one PDF gives you a single file with a page per image, in the order you choose, that opens the same way on any device.

Good photos make good PDFs. Lay the paper flat on a dark surface, use daylight rather than the flash, and fill the frame with the page.

Crop before converting. Most phone galleries have a crop tool, and cutting away the table, fingers and shadows makes the PDF look far more professional.

Check orientation. Photos taken with the phone turned sideways can appear rotated. Fix them in your gallery first, or use Rotate PDF afterwards.

Modern phone photos are often 3 to 5 MB each, so ten photos can make a PDF of 40 MB or more. Compress PDF can bring that down to a size you can email.

iPhones may save photos as HEIC instead of JPG. In Settings, Camera, Formats, choosing Most Compatible makes the camera save JPG.

For many pages of text, a scanner app gives better results than plain photos, because it straightens the page and boosts contrast.

Have a mix of JPG and PNG images? Convert each set with the matching tool, then combine the results with Merge PDF.

Name the finished file after what it contains, such as receipts-october-2026.pdf, so it is easy to find later.

JPG to PDF: common questions

Can I put several photos into one PDF?

Yes. Upload all the images, put them in order, and each one becomes a page in a single PDF.

How do I get the best result from phone photos?

Shoot in daylight, hold the phone straight above the page, and crop out the table edges before you upload.

Will my photos lose quality?

The images are placed into the PDF as they are. If the PDF is too big afterwards, use Compress PDF.
